Frida Johansson was born in Falkenberg, Sweden, in 1987. She currently lives and works in Stockholm. Through different forms of storytelling she tries to grasp and interpret her surroundings. The motifs are taken from everyday moments and the subjects are often located in empty, quiet settings, and turned away from the spectator. Themes like uprooting, belonging and femininity are predominant in Johansson’s work.
Frida Johansson studied at Konstfack (Stockholm) and Valand Academy (Gothenburg) between 2007-2013. Her work has been shown around Sweden, for example at Liljevalchs, Fotografiska (the Museum of Photography) and Halland Art Museum (Hallands Konstmuseum). Johansson’s work is represented in, among others, Halland Art Museum and Uppsala County Council’s collections.
Frida Johansson’s solo exhibition Current Habits opens on the 13th of October, between 1-4 pm (13-16). The exhibition runs through the 3rd of November.
Now the book "Frida Johansson" has finally arrived. 68 pages full of colorful pictures that interact with descriptive texts about Johansson's various projects.
